• BSc Nursing is a four year program. Students have excellent and challenging opportunities to explore nursing through exposure visits to Communities, Primary Health Centres, and Community Health Centres. The college is recognised by the Indian Nursing Council, the regulatory authority for nursing education in India. The degree is awarded by the Sikkim Manipal University.

  • Graduates can work in Government Organization, Non-government Organization, Educational Institution, Community Setting, Army Nursing, Navy Nursing, Railway Nursing, School Health Nursing etc.
  • They can serve in the capacity of a staff nurse, sister and/or a supervisor in the branches of Medical Nursing, Surgical Nursing, O.T. Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Cardiothoracic Nursing, Neurological Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing and in Gynae, Maternity and Obstetrical Nursing in hospital set up.
  • Community Health Nursing plays an extremely significant role in working for health and in implementing the National Health Programs, especially in MCH & FW programs.
  • There is scope of higher studies i.e Masters, M. Phil and Doctorate in nursing, MBA, Hospital Administration, Master degree in Microbiology, Psychology etc.
  • Academic program is directed toward upgrading of critical thinking skills, competencies and standards required for practice of professional nursing and midwifery through problem based learning. Emphasis is given towards capacity building in the domains of clinical nursing, first level management, nursing education and in nursing research.
  • It is said that the standards of any enterprise are judged by the quality of its product. The results achieved by our institution speak for itself. This year out of 386 B.Tech students 225 passed out with First Class with Distinction and 124 were placed in First Class. There were only 29 students in Second Class. Thus 90% of B. Tech students passed out with First Class and above. In addition 29 MCA students 44 MBA Students, 7 M.Tech and 13 MSc. Students were successfully passed out under CGPA System.

  • The campus is self sufficient and fully residential with separate hostels for boys and girls, and provides excellent accommodation to all the students. Recreation rooms with TVs, telephone facilities and separate gymnasiums for boys and girls and sports facilities are available. The entire campus is now a part of the Global communication village by its recent induction of WiFi network connections. The campus-internet is being upgraded from 2 Mbps leased line to 8 Mbps Broad band line. The Institute has well equipped dispensary and a resident doctor with supporting staff. Those needing specialized treatment are sent to Central Referral Hospital at Gangtok in an ambulance available round clock.

  • The teacher guardian scheme of the institute is an innovative and unique concept wherein, each student is allotted a specific teacher guardian who provides emotional support, monitors academic performance, provides necessary guidance to the ward and communicates all such details regularly to the parents of the ward.

  • The EDC (SMIT) entered in its fourth phase of activities. It has been conducting various entrepreneurship awareness programmes where self help groups, local people, non teaching staff and students from Dept of Management Studies have been participating. The programme also laid emphasis on medicinal plants and herbs found in Sikkim and computer hardware and networking.
